Health & Safety Officer

Carry out the tasks and responsibilities of a Health and Safety Officer in accordance with the documented systems, procedures and processes of the Longonjo Rare Earth Refinery Project;
Implement procedural, reporting and monitoring requirements as prescribed by safety legislation and applicable Regulations;
Implement, assess and monitor performance, of the Mine’s Health and Safety System;
Implement H&S Standard Operating Procedures;
Implement H&S Awareness Program;
Routinely assess and mitigate H&S risks;
Maintain an up-to-date register of aspects, risks and mitigations including those from internal audits, incidents and external audits;
Complete H&S risk assessments and internal audits as required;
Maintain and monitor a H&S management system;
Compile stakeholder reports on pertinent H&S monitoring data;
Support the development and maintenance of a system of reporting for H&S incidents
Investigate H&S;
Identify/report Environment hazards/incidents when required in the absence of the Environmental Coordinator;
Direct and support training for mine employees and contractors on how to implement H&S requirements such as working at heights, confined spaces, dangerous and hazardous substances etc;
Maintain databases of data and compile timely reports as required for internal and external stakeholders, including senior group management and regulators (e.g. TRIR, incidents, hazard observations etc);
Overseeing H&S management of personnel and contractors providing services to the site;
Act as a champion for H&S and perform advisory functions to employees at an operational level;
Ensure legal compliance of all H&S policies and provide input into policy updates and reviews.

Diploma in Safety Management or equivalent in Occupational Health & Safety;
COMSOC 1 and 2 highly preferential;
Experience in mining or health and safety management in a related field;
Knowledge and experience of Angolan Safety and Health requirements;
Microsoft Office Suite;
Good presentation and facilitation skills;
Valid Driver’s License;
Pro-active thinker and have the ability to do own job planning;
Able to work without supervision;
Good communication skills and problem-solving abilities;
Ability to communicate in Portuguese and English advantageous.
