Line Manager of: Commissioning Engineers and Technicians

Objectives / Scope: 

• The successful candidate will be based in the Client’s office for a period then Offshore, UK, months. Whilst located the Client’s office, the imcumbent will as part of an integrated commissioning team, prepare Pre-Commissioning and Commissioning Procedures, review P & ID’s and other drawings and liaise with the Client and Vendors associated with Commissioning activities for the project
• The candidate will assist the Commissioning Manager in meeting project requirements and performing all technical duties in a highly competent and efficient manner, and to be aware of and adhere to the Aker Solutions and client values, systems and processes.
• As a Lead Commissioning Engineer you will be working on a EPC project and be responsible for scopes set by the project Commissioning Manager ensuring that project scopes are completed and handed over in a safe, timely manner. At a later date, you will also have line management responsibility for commissioning engineers and technicians assigned to your workscopes. 
• Provide and agree commissioning deliverables and be responsible for ensuring those deliverables are completed to plan in a safe and timely manner.

Main Responsibilities

Organisational:

• To carry out professional engineering activities in a highly competent and efficient manner and ensure that the technical and safety integrity of the engineering is maintained
• Assist in the preparation of CTR’s and man-hour estimates via the Company Management System where applicable.
• Execute technical duties in a competent and professional manner and in accordance with Company procedures.
• Ensure that commissioning engineering work is performed: 
• in accordance with the company project execution model 
• in accordance with the schedule.
• within budgets
• Ensure project deliverables are generated within the relevant client system
• Compliance with Aker Solutions procedures and all relevant statutory regulations, codes and standards
• Review and check the work of others.
• Review and comment on vendor information and, where required, take part in inspection and testing
• Assist the Commissioning Manager, in the planning, co-ordination and execution of the groups work activities.
• Liaise with other disciplines on commissioning issues.
• Provide added value to the development of their discipline / function.
• Direct sub-ordinate engineers in their work.
• Assist line supervision in the compilation of weekly reports on progress via the Company, Integrated Management system, where applicable.
• May have responsibility for the performance of others within their discipline / function.
• Provide engineering and technical direction for drawing office personnel.
• Deputise for line supervision and provide holiday and sickness cover, when required.
• Work with Client engineer’s and be pro-active whilst carrying out all duties.

Technical:

• Prepare technical data for commissioning activities as per project schedule.
• Prepare commissioning procedures, for all relevant systems, as per project schedule.
• Review and comment on vendor information and assist with inspection and testing at FAT’s and iFAT’s.
• Carry out single and inter-discipline checks and reviews.
• Review and check subordinate engineers work.
• Attend Client meetings as well as internal Company meetings as and when required.
• Carry out onshore / offshore surveys and answer site queries.
• It is desirable that the successful applicant will have some experience of 3D (PDMS) CAD and 2D CAD (Microstation or AutoCAD),

Qualifications:

• Educated to HNC/HND level in engineering discipline
• Educated to degree level in engineering discipline
• Chartered or Incorporated Engineer

Specific Training / Specialist Skills:

• Sound working knowledge of relevant industry codes and standards
• Conversant with appropriate technical software
• Aware of latest technical developments
• Current Offshore Survival Certificate.
• Current Offshore Medical Certificate.
• Statoil systems – ProCoSys

Experience:

• Demonstrable relevant professional experience
• Hook-up project experience.

• Ability to direct and guide engineers and designers
• Excellent communication skills, ability to communicate effectively within the organisation and with external clients / customers.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills

• An ability to build strong, effective working relationships within their team will be essential.
