Construction Engineer (Lead / Supervising)

CONSTRUCTION ENGINEER

Objectives / Scope: Responsible for the implementation of company construction and HSE Procedures.

Main Responsibilities:

• Responsible for day-to-day contact with assets.
• Setting out health & safety standards as per company procedures within the offshore team.
• Setting workscope priorities in line with the project plan.
• Assigning workscopes within the onshore completions team.
• Ensuring timely delivery of input to construction workpacks.  
• Ensuring quality of the deliverables is maintained in line with corporate standards and procedures.
• Assist with compilation of construction jobcards/workpacks and ensure that HS & E expectations are met onshore and offshore.
• Raise change requests and provide input to cost and planning departments as required.
• Attends weekly clients progress meetings and provide input to weekly and monthly project reports
• Occasional offshore visits to liaise with offshore team, carryout constructability surveys, carryout audits to ensure compliance with procedures, workpacks and to carry out team briefings in conjunction with safety and HR depts.

LEAD CONSTRUCTION ENGINEER

Line Manager of: Offshore and Onshore Construction, Commissioning & Certification Engineers, Vendors or Sub Contractors mobilised by Akersolutions

Objectives / Scope:

  • Manage the Aker Solutions Offshore Construction team, to execute the workscopes assigned, safely, on time, in budget and ensure the technical integrity of the installation.

  • Actively promote and at all times act within the Aker solutions Just Care procedures.

  • Responsible for the implementation of company construction, commissioning and HSE Procedures.

  • Deliver Aker Solutions Values and Leadership approach.

  • Ensure implementation of management processes, PEM and AKiMS.

  • Ensure safe, successful implementation of modifications offshore.

  • Assure excellence in construction delivery.

  • Identify, develop, maintain and improve construction and commissioning procedures.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Managing, guiding, co-ordination and supporting the construction and commissioning personnel and teams onshore and offshore.

  • Responsible for compiling and distribution of weekly reports to the onshore project management team.

  • Setting out and ensuring compliance of the health & safety standards as per company procedures within the onshore and offshore team.

  • Setting workscope priorities and assign scopes in line with the project plan.

  • Ensuring timely completion and delivery of construction workpacks

  • Responsibility for successful planning and delivery onshore and offshore.

  • Responsibility for management and supervision of all personnel offshore mobilised throughAkersolutions.

  • Ensure safe and environmentally successful completion of scopes offshore.

  • Management of materials, plant and equipment offshore.

  • Ensure that all hire plant and equipment has full certification requirements and is controlled cost effectively

  • Effectively manage change through the MoC process

  • Co-ordinate preservation of equipment and keep records of same

  • Review probationary evaluations and assessments for offshore personnel.

  • Ensure compliance with PUWER 

  • Complete competence assessments for onshore personnel on an ongoing basis.

  • Enforce and record the appropriate discipline and disciplinary procedures where required using Just Culture

  • Management of construction budgets

  • Ensure that progress is collated accurately and submit to onshore planning in a timely manner.

  • Ensure non-conformances are handled according to defined project requirements

  • Advise project organisation of critical requirements for the completion of the work such as revisions, drawings, materials, equipment, subcontracts etc

  • Active take part in problem analyses, report and recommend to Project Manager areas requiring special attention and corrective actions

  • Oversee Lifting/ LOLER planning and execution

  • Liaise with Client both Onshore and Offshore

  • Involvement in HAZID,HWNF, Risk Assessments

  • Third Party/ Vendor Control management

Qualifications: HNC Construction related or equivalent 

Specific Training / Specialist Skills: Able to supervise construction and commissioning engineers

Experience:  

• Offshore experience
• Onshore experience in a construction engineering role
• Offshore supervisory experience

Personal Skills:

• Good leadership skills to lead others onshore and offshore
• Ability to work with self motivation and confidence
• Highly organised and able to prioritise jobs

LEAD CONSTRUCTION ENGINEER

Qualifications:

• Educated to HNC level
• Full professional membership and able to demonstrate continuing professional development.
• Chartered Engineer.

Specific Training / Specialist Skills:

• Previous experience of managing a construction function on a Major Project or within major organisation.

• Previous experience of contributing towards Construction and Company Strategy.

• In depth understanding of the Offshore Oil & Gas Industry.

• Legislation applicable to construction (DCR, LOLER etc.)

• Task Risk Assessment.

• Offshore survival, medical, mist

Experience:

• 7 - 10 years UKCS experience of greenfield & brownfield projects.

• 7 - 10 years UKCS experience of leading and supervising labour.

• 5 years experience in a functional leadership position.

• Knowledge of and commitment to planning and cost control.

Personal Skills:

• Ability to work on own initiative; self motivated, willingness to learn and adapt.

• Excellent communication skills, ability to communicate effectively within the organisation and with external clients / customers.

SUPERVISING CONSTRUCTION ENGINEER

Qualifications: HNC Construction related or equivalent
